Pros:
- affordable and super high quality (metal)
- allows me to use my vintage Canon lens
- doesn’t add too much bulk or weight to the camera
Cons:
- Manual focus only
- on one of my lenses, I have to wiggle around the apature lever before it will engage with this adapter. Not sure if this is a lens or an adapter issue though.
- very visible logo (not a massive issue, but it does annoy me!)
Overall, I’m very happy with this!
I was a bit worried at first, as I knew the M39 referenced an odd Russian LTM thread copy lens mount, but the actual lenses would not focus correctly on any camera other than the model it was designed for. If that were the case, then all my L39 lenses wouldn't work. But they do, so K&F have breathed new life into old rangefinder lenses. Many many thanks.
You need to go into your fujifilm settings and set it to take photos without a lens, then it will work fine.
Aperture is set to the lenses smallest and the aperture ring will only change it by 5 stops. So if you have a F4 lens you will not be able to goto F16 for example.
It does have a bit of weight to it but it is of excellent build quality. I have used it with a 50mm Nikon lens and a 70-200mm Nikon lens and there is no movement whatsoever when it’s all connected up. It is a superb fit.
Focus peaking works fine when using the adaptor and focus is spot on.( see photos which were taken in a dimly lit room)
Sharpness is retained throughout.
With the Fuji being an APS-C and my lenses made for full frame there is a crop of 1.5 making my 50mm a 75mm on the fujifilm and when using the 70-200mm it gives me a focal length of 105 - 300mm due to the crop with no loss of quality.
If you have Nikon glass and a fujifilm x camera this is definitely a win-win for you and saving you money. Yes it cannot auto focus, but this is a small price to pay, manual focusing with peaking is far more fun anyway.
I definitely 100% recommend this adaptor.
The adapter is very good quality and now the lens is being used with my current camera. I know I could have bought cheaper adapters, but this is still a very reasonable amount to pay and saving around £10 seemed pointless on a lovely modern camera.
I didn't rate the stars for autofocus, as old lenses can only be used in manual focus on modern digital cameras. At least that's my understanding, maybe some other lenses can autofocus with some adapters.
