Superior build quality and function with just enough WOW factor.
So, I already have two camera bags, one small shoulder bag and a larger backpack which I actually quite like (although the front ‘buckles’ turned out to be cosmetic and held down with small magnets so they pretty much came loose most of the time). Then I received this bag from K&F Concept. The thing that drew me to this first was the sliding side compartment for the camera itself. It looks really neat, and it really is neat when you get your hands on it. It leaves the camera nice and secure and, well . . . It’ll impress people every time you show it off. On the flap that you zip open to get to the compartment are two small pouches for your memory cards and batteries – nicely situated exactly where you’ll need them.
As great as the camera compartment is, the main draw for me is the fabric and overall construction quality of this backpack. Just by touching it you know this pack is not only waterproof but strong and durable. It’s built to last and I kind of feel inclined to protect it and not use it for every shoot, but we’ll see. The laptop compartment at the back was fine and fit my fairly large Lenovo laptop with no problems, and the side compartment that expands via a zip to fit a water bottle is a very nice touch. The top storage compartment is a good size, capable of fitting (for example) a couple of books, a t-shirt or two, waterproof jacket, phone, phone charger and a few snacks. If you were thinking of using this bag for an overnight stay before or after a location shoot you could get away with a few overnight essentials – toiletries, change of clothes etc. in there to save you carrying another bag.
The tripod straps are in a much better location than on the other backpack I have – on the bottom front of the bag, rather than hanging from the underside, thereby reducing the overall profile of this pack in comparison to the other. In terms of fit and comfort, the bag feels well-designed and ergonomic. I packed it out, made it as heavy as I could then went for a walk around the block and it felt very good on my back – no sagging that might cause back pain or anything sticking into me. If I could have asked for anything it would have been for room for another lens and maybe another separate compartment for things like lens hoods and my wireless shutter release and remote, but I imagine there will be room for them in the top compartment if I’m not taking too much else.
I’m really glad I gave this bag a shot as it’s a big improvement over my other pack, and has already replaced it as my go-to camera bag, even though the other one isn’t even a month old! Highly recommended.
