Perfect filter with good value for money
I bought this filter primarily for videography, where I usually film according to the 180-degree rule. This means that in order to obtain a cinematic video image with a certain amount of motion blur in individual frames, you film with a shutter speed that is equal to 1 divided by twice the number of frames. If I film at 50fps, for example, I therefore need an exposure time of 1/100s, which is not possible without an ND filter, especially in the wide angle range when the sun is shining.
The filter is also suitable for photography, even if only to a limited extent, as greater darkening is often required in certain situations. When I want to produce soft water on a stream in bright sunshine, I often travel with filters beyond ND1000, as well as when I want to show a busy area deserted of people.
But as I said, that is also very special and in my case this is about videography. The filter is intended for my 100-300mm MFT lens, which I usually use to take wildlife pictures. In the test, the filter shows no weaknesses. As a result, I was unable to identify any color cast and an X-Cross effect did not occur either. The promised effect of up to 5 f-stops is kept. Top!
The filter comes in a synthetic leather case with magnetic closure and an “removal aid” in the form of an integrated ribbon so that you do not accidentally touch the glass when removing the filter. The bag also has a magnetic closure.
The filter itself weighs 43g (reweighed) and runs very smoothly with appealing resistance over all aperture levels. Thanks to the adjustment aid, you can of course no longer use a rigid lens hood, but you can also remove the adjustment aid if the appropriate tools are available.
Technically speaking, this filter, which is the “little brother” of the Nano-X Pro, is therefore also extremely high-quality at a third of the price. The Nano-X Pro series is, however, a bit higher quality in terms of frame and coating.
The price-performance ratio is great.
If the review helped you, I would be happy if you click on “Useful”.
Last but not least, I received the product free of charge as a Vine product tester, but this has no effect on my review. I also only test things that I can usefully use myself and integrate into my everyday life.
