Can be used for solar photography.
I used this for the solar eclipse on August 21st. I was able to point my Canon DSLR directly at the sun. The filter can be set so dark that you have to turn up the aperture and slow down the shutter speed to get images of the naked sun. In the deepest part of the eclipse, I had to turn the aperture wide open and slow the shutter to 1/800. Of course, start with the most restrictive settings and open up from there.
