High quality look, lightweight, what's not to like?
bought a pair of these, one for my own use and one as a gift. Both arrived in perfect collimation, meaning the two views converge slightly. This is not typical of cheap binoculars and is definitely not the case with my 40-year-old, Japanese-made Bausch and Laumb. When viewed terrestrially the focus is quite sharp. The focus knob is smooth and free of play, making it easy to focus on objects in close proximity. I tried stargazing briefly, and there is a slight color variation (edge "halo") on bright objects like the Moon, but it's no worse than an Orion short-tube telescope. For the price you can't ask for more. The light weight of a magnesium housing with a compact roof prism makes it easier to use for long periods of time. A tripod is required for demanding applications such as astronomy, but occasional use is also possible without a tripod. The fit and finish looks decent. There's nothing rattling and nothing obvious made of cheap material that could break in a few weeks. These are great binoculars to keep in the glove compartment and make a good gift for a young person who wants to get into astronomy. We recommend!
