Good Results but Somewhat Stiff to Rotate
Having worked my way up to photographic equipment that is weatherproof enough that it can withstand a downpour it is important to me that my filters are also weatherproof. I needed a CPL filter for a new lens and saw this one by K&F caught my eye and I ordered it.
I know K&F from their adapters, and I have previously tried a couple of their ND filters, but I had not come across their Nano-X range before.
This particular filter caught my eye for two main reasons. Firstly, it was listed as having both water and dust proof coatings, and secondly, it had 28 coatings which I assume are 14 per side.
The filter comes in a nicely designed case which holds it in place very firmly. The filter coatings are claimed to be waterproof, and I tested that claim out by running it under the tap and the water was nicely repelled. So far so good.
The filter screwed in okay to the lens with no unusually grungy feel to the threading. Once screwed on I tried rotating the outer ring of the filter and this is where I had an issue. It took much more effort to rotate it than I like. I had to tighten the filter onto the lens much more than usual to be able to rotate the outer ring without unscrewing the filter from the lens. It has loosened a little with use but is still stiffer than my personal preference.
The filter certainly does what else it is claimed to do, however. The true color is just that, true. No color shift at all and it is effective at reducing glare.
Overall, this is a filter that gives very good results and that makes it definitely worth trying if you don't mind a stiff outer ring. Some people do I know, but I prefer mine to be somewhat easier to rotate.
