Allows DJI to close with filter installed!!!
Like many others, I couldn't get the DJI filter because it was out of stock forever. I took that risk and I'm glad I did. I'm seeing reports that the DJI can't close, which is a bit of a hassle for a product that's supposed to be all about lightness and speed. This filter solves this problem by allowing the Pocket 3 to close with the filter connected. See image.
It appears to be perhaps a 1/8 strength filter... it APPEARS to be a little less diffuse than the reviews of the DJI that I've seen (not in person though). It definitely works, but perhaps not as powerfully as the DJI, which can be a plus or a minus depending on your needs. I didn't notice any loss in quality that wasn't associated with fog filters in general. It created a beautiful glow for backlit sunny areas and didn't seem to affect the colors at all. The sharpened digital look of these small sensor cameras has really been rounded out.
I leave this filter on 100% unless I'm using an ND for a more manual exposure. I was able to order a DJI filter as I was writing this, so I will edit this review in case there are any significant differences.
I love being able to just leave this thing on. I can now attach the nebula filter and when I remove the wide angle lens I can leave ND16 and ND64 in the magnetic spots for the WA lens and nebula filter. Has me covered for 99% of everything I do with this thing. I highly recommend it.
Pros:
Cheaper than DJI
Available (DJI is apparently always in backorder)
Allows you to close the Pocket 3 with the filter attached
No noticeable color cast or fringing
Doesn't seem to spread quite as much as DJI
Cons:
Doesn't seem to scatter quite as much as DJI
Thin frame does the trick difficult NOT to leave fingerprints on it when you remove/replace it. Due to the thin bezel
you almost NEED to have nails to remove it
