Definitely Special Purpose
I ordered this K&F Concept 72mm Kaleidoscope Filter to take a trip down memory lane.
Way back in 1972, I took a trip to New York City to spend some time with a cousin. We were both beginning photographers, and we took a drive to Spiratone. For those of you too young to know, Spiratone sold a lot of inexpensive photo gear, including some unique items. They had enlarging paper in DayGlo colors that the called Psychobrome, sideways periscopes that you could use to take surreptitious photos, and all sorts of special effects filters. I didn't have much money with me, and about all I could afford was a Spiratone Kaleidoscope filter. It produced an effect that looks just like the one you get with this filter.
This K&F Concepts filter is pretty large and thick. It definitely has a negative effect on the overall sharpness of your images, but sharpness is probably not that important if you are going for the effect you get with this filter. The photos in the listing are an accurate representation of what you can expect. While it is possible to create this sort of effect in post-processing, it's a whole lot simpler to use a filter.
The filter comes with a nice case and, as seems par for the course with K&F Concepts, a couple of cleaning cloths.
