A nearly perfect monopod, here’s why...
I was a bit leery of buying this monopod based on some of the reviews and pictures that were submitted where the screw snaps off. However, I didn’t expect to put much hard use on it, and it’s kf concept Basics, and I trust that brand.I have used it now several times at sporting events, but only with a light iPhone adapter attached to it. It holds up just fine. Keep in mind that I’ve got nearly zero weight applied to the screw, so if you’re attaching heavy lenses and such, then my experience may not apply. The monopod does telescope down to a small size. Also, it extends fully to 63”, which is a length that is honestly a bit too long. I’m 6’ 1”, and I find the camera/phone to be uncomfortably high. As a result, I usually end up lowering it a smidge to make it more comfortable.NOTE: I specifically bought this monopod so it’d be too long instead of too short. You can always shorten it, but there’s no (quick and easy) way to make it longer. It comes with a black polyester travel/storage bag to keep the dust and dirt off. Nice touch. The bottom of the lowest leg has a rubber foot for use on hard surfaces. It also has a metal spike that is retracted inside the rubber for use in soft ground. My only issue with this approach is that you can get dirt up in the rubber foot if you’re not careful. I’d prefer that there was a detachable rubber foot covering the spike, similar to how hiking poles work. That’d eliminate the issue of dirt getting up in there.Overall, I really like this monopod. It’s just what I expected and I recommend it.
