The shipment was very fast. The &F Concept Nano-K Series Black-Mist 1/4 Filter 72mm Black Promist 1/4 Optical Glass Filter is very well made and can be screwed onto the lens thread without backlash.

I've come to know a few K&F products so far. The quality (and also the price) has increased significantly. The filters are suitable for comparable manufacturers who demand far more.

I have the standard filter portfolio at home so far. This is my first filter, which should also have an effect. My anticipation and expectations were correspondingly high.

The filter gives the image a slightly dark look with a lot of nostalgia. I really enjoyed it. Also that the filter does not change the quality of the image. The filter works great when I shoot with my film simulations in JPEG. I am a passionate Fuji photographer and travel with my X-T5 or X100V. The filters and the corresponding film simulations are in perfect harmony!!!

The K&F Black-Mist filter is my first filter that creates an effect. I haven't had any experience with this yet and, to be honest, I'm very pleasantly surprised. Of course, this can be completely different for someone who already has experience in this area.

The filter is delivered in the familiar K&F folding box. In addition to a plastic box in which the filter is once again wrapped, there are 3 shrink-wrapped microfiber cloths to make the filter and lens dust-free before assembly.

What I personally really like is the coating on the metal ring. Filters are often painted very smoothly and are difficult to tighten. Here, they opted for a matte and very handy coating. The grip is further supported by 2 zones with riffles and you can tighten the filter very nicely and without any problems.

It would be whining at a high level if you would now like to note an even more suitable storage box for the filter. There is nothing wrong with the fit and ease of movement of the thread. That's why I give it 5 out of 5 stars.

This filter is very well made, the glass is beautifully clear, the thread runs very smoothly and the grooves on the frame make it easy to grip.

The effect is clearly visible. The photos look harmoniously smooth, but remain well sharp. Colors are not changed. The images are somewhat “hardened” without being blurred.

For storage, the filter is stored in a simple plastic box with foam. It's nothing special, but it's well protected. Three more cleaning cloths are included in the box contents.

Overall, this is a very good product and the price is right. Everyone has to decide for themselves whether this filter is necessary. It is definitely an asset and the quality is top notch. That is why we would be happy to give you the full number of stars.

Black diffusion filters make hard things soft

This black pro mist filter at that little something extra to your video, work for a more professional and cinematic look

A very nice filter for adding that dreamy effect. It softens the image and is very helpful on reducing wrinkles when taking portraits. I intend on using this filter for landscapes as well as portraits. The filter is solid with the rim made of metal and easily screws onto your lens. This filter comes in a hard plastic case and included were three microfiber clothes individually sealed in plastic. I have other K&F filters and have never been disappointed.

This is a very nice camera filter from a reputable company. It is made of high quality optical glass with nanometer, multi-coating layers of ultra-thin and ultra-light materials. The frame is very light and small compared to the other filters I have for my camera.

This is a special effects filter primarily for portraits to soften the details of your subject. This is a 1/4 diffusion/mist filter and the changes from a normal, non-filtered lens, are minimal. K&F makes this same filter in lesser and greater strengths (i.e., 1/8, 1/2). So you have to decide what diffusion level you want for your specific studio shoot/setting. I thought 1/4 was a good place to start experimenting with this type of effect.

This filter also included 3 nice sized microfiber cleaning cloths. (It would have been nice if there were in a resealable/reusable bag though.) The price is very good considering you are getting a high-quality, multi-coated glass filter from a good company. In my different experimental shots, I think this filter has a lot of potential for portraits and still-life. I'm also wanting to try it out on macro shots.

I used this 52mm filter on my old classic Canon EF 50mm 2.5 Compact Macro lens to take the picture of the faux candle. I used flash with standard priority and exposure set to 1/30 second at f/16, ISO 1600.

The filter came packed inside a sealed plastic bag sleeve inside a reusable plastic case for storage.

The filter is machined to be well threaded and it fit perfectly onto a clear filter I have permanently affixed to my lens. The edge of the filter has grooves for an easy-on/off grip.

Because it uses Black Diffusion, dialing up or down the "black" or even the "clarity" setting when opening a raw file in Photoshop can render a dramatic variability of the diffusion effect.

The 18 Multi-Layer Coatings can help reduce glare from flash highlights on shiny surfaces such as glass or shiny metal. The filter gives a soft diffuse effect on the subject which is also effected by the light source used.

This is a nice filter to have when you want to add some diffusion, softness or reduction of glare in photos or video. It can add an element of drama or a cinematic quality.

The filter came with 3 sealed microfiber cloths to help keep it clean.

I did some test shots of my face, I'll spare you the images. I have some sun damage and this filter did soften them a bit which was nice. It also softened the texture of my skin some as well.
This filter came well package and with lens cleaners which is a nice touch in packaging.
The threads screwed on without issue and I saw no anomalies, color cast or vignetting from the filter.
This is a good tool to have for anything we can do to stay out of the time suck of post photo editing the better.

I reviewed this product in January of 2023 on a 24-70mm Nikon f/2.8 S lens, mounted on a Nikon Z9. For my setup, I used the 82mm version to properly fit on my lens however, I would expect other sizes to perform in a similar manner. The filter frame is aluminum and is low profile measuring only 3.3mm. I found the filter to thread on and off easily and there was no binding while I was using it.

I've uploaded images of the unboxing to show what you should expect to receive when you order this product. Specifically you're getting the filter and a few soft cleaning cloths which are always useful. During my review, I used the filter primarily to shoot still but did do a little video work but I've not uploaded that here.

So what does it do? This mist filters adds a nice softening effect and flare from smaller light sources creating some cool effects adding some character to your images. This is most pronounced at night but the effect persists even in conditions closer to day light. The image of my cell phone was shot under studio lighting that was roughly daylight balanced while the other three examples were shot in lower light conditions. For the split screen shots, the non-filtered images are on the left, and the images that have the filter are on the right. These are straight out of camera with no edits as raw files in Nikon's NX Studio software with shooting conditions in the upper right of each frame.

I really enjoyed using this filter to push a little style and character into my images and plan to use it in the future for portrait work as well as some creative shots. I wasn't sure what to expect initially but really enjoyed what was coming out of the camera. I know the bloom effect isn't for everyone so I made sure to capture that so you'd know what you're getting with this product.

I'm making it a permanent part of my kit and strongly recommend it if you're looking for that softer look with flare in your images or videos.
