I absolutely love this filter! I was looking for something to soften up my pictures without breaking the bank and I came across this filter (43mm) for around 17 dollars after tax. It is super small and discrete to the point that I forget that it is on my lens half of the time.

I decided to get the 1/8 black diffusion filter rather than the 1/4, 1/2 or the 1/1 because I was looking for just a subtle glow and this thing definitely delivers. For me it is perfect, but for others the 1/8 may be TOO subtle in regular conditions. I will say however that the bloom effect really shows through when a scene has a lot of direct light or very bright highlights. I also chose the 1/8 version because I wanted a slight artistic flare to my photos without feeling too intentional with the bloom. I will also mention that I don't have the ability to determine the filter's sharpness and while I suspect that it maybe lowers the sharpness of the overall picture by a tiny minuscule bit, for many of the pictures that I took I was more than happy with the quality that it produced. If you are concerned about the sharpness I would probably look into the Tiffen filters, but even with that, those filters are 6x the price of this one.

If you are a starting out experimenting with filters and do not want to spend too much money, this is the one. There is so much fun and artistic capability that can be achieved with this filter that I keep it on my 23mm all of the time. Buy this filter!

I included two pictures of a cyclops action figure and you can really see the effect on the flash light at the bottom left of the picture as well as the overall bloom on the figure itself. I also included a few other shots with very bright highlights.

This filter gives a nice softening, almost ethereal look to some of my close-ups of crafts, taking the attention off the details and putting it on the overall project.

My camera has an internal star-filter option that I was also using in this image, and I think the two paired together nicely.
Nice subtle effect... Nice subtle effect...

I've attached an image of an imperfect pumpkin.

The picture on the left was taken at 100mm on my Sony A7iv without a filter. The image on the right was taken with the K&F Black Diffusion 1 filter attached.

It's not the same as taking a picture of a person (unless you know someone with a deep orange complexion), but because of this punkin's slightly rough "complexion," you can see that those imperfections are dialed down just a bit. If this were a human face, it might be just enough to cover up any of the small marks that seem to be highlighted by razor sharp digital images.

I'm new to black diffusion filters, but this particular one makes me want to do some test drives with my human friends (!) to see if they like the results. Like I said, it's really subtle, but that sure beats the ridiculous "face smoothing" filters and features some people add to their images that make them look like something from a wax museum.

Also, I noticed it darkened the image slightly. Otherwise, I'm curious to learn more!
Subtle effect, but may be just enough to "take the edge" off life's little imperfections

This filter is great for anyone who wants that softer and smoother look to their photos/videos. It screws onto the end of your lens like you'd expect and holds well. I went out and took some sample photos with and without this filter on my Sony a6700 (see attached photos). As you can see, the Mist filter gives a nice softness to the image, and helps combat that "digital look" that a lot of modern DSLRs and Mirrorless cameras have. Notice the soft bloom that the filter creates around the clouds, and notice how it's missing in the image with no filter. There's almost a dreamlike aura compared to the image without the filter.

Overall, if you're looking to take smoother, less "digital looking" images, this is a great buy.
Great filter for a soft and smooth look! Great filter for a soft and smooth look!

Was looking for a filter for my Camera to soften the light just a hair. This worked wonders. Threaded onto all of my adapters for use on different lenses and holds up well to dirt and grime. I personally put some ceramic coating on the glass to help with water repellant as I like to shoot in the rain. Would buy from this company again.

This K&F Concept 1/2 black diffusion (aka. black mist) filter works just as described. Diffusion filters are used to soften the image and will also enhance light (and create glow) giving an overall dreamy effect... and a lot of people like them for video recording. However 1/2 strength is probably a bit much in most situations. 1/8 preferably, or 1/4 will give a more subtle effect and is what most people actually use. If you are looking for a stronger look then this 1/2 is perfect (see photos). There is a 1 (full) which would be too extreme I would imagine. I have never had any issues with any K&F Concept products and this is another quality purchase that I can easily recommend.
Nice Diffusion Filter. 1/2 is pretty strong though. Nice Diffusion Filter. 1/2 is pretty strong though. Nice Diffusion Filter. 1/2 is pretty strong though. I wanted to test the filter, outside for portraits, but we have had a run of rainy dismal days, this month. I decided to try it on a set of Christmas lights. In the first photo; no filter, in the second; the filter was used. I notice a softer look with the filter, taking away the harshness of lights in a darker setting. The filter is well made, goes on easily and comes off easily. My lens fits on it, without popping off. I tested it on a Sony 105mm lens, with a Sony 7RIIi. It will be fun, experimenting more, in different settings when the sun comes back.
Wonderful effect for night lights Wonderful effect for night lights

I gave this K&F Concept 72mm Black Diffusion filter a try to see what type of effect it would have compared to a UV filter. This filter gives a slight cinematic effect and makes photos and video softer and fuzzier. There isn't a huge difference, but you can certainly tell a difference when shooting people.

It makes the skin a bit softer and smoother and backgrounds are not tack sharp. The pic shows it was a little dirty out of the box, but the graininess in the glass is supposed to be there to give photos the soft effect.

Overall, this is a nice filter to have in your camera bag, especially if you shoot portraits or want a soft effect with video.
