This is my first experience using a Neutral Density filter, let alone a variable one, so I don't pretend to be an expert. I haven't had time to really play with this filter either; I just took a few quick shots to see what it does. However, I am impressed with this filter. It is clearly a very high quality filter. Even though this filter can be adjusted from ND2 (1 stop) to ND2000 (11 stops),l the frame is very thin and is made of high grade machined aluminum. The filter is adjusted by turning the outer ring; there are eleven marks to indicate the amount of adjustment, and the adjustment ring moves very smoothly with adequate resistance. The filter is made of multi-coated glass to reduce glare and other anomalies. On my 18-35mm lens, the lens hood will not fit with the filter installed, and neither will the lens cap. The three attached photos show how the filter can be used to reduce the amount of light. The three shots are from the minimum setting to the middle setting; all camera settings are the same except for the shutter speed. I tried some shots at higher filter settings, but the effect was too great (at least given my limited knowledge). While I still have a great deal to learn about using this filter effectively, clearly it has a great deal of potential. This is a precision device at a price that is much less than some other brands I have looked at.

I shoot a lot of video with different lenses, and lately have been using my 24 f1.4 Sony lens quite a bit while outdoors, and this can be a very bright lens, so using a variable ND filter like this one by K&F can definitely be useful and a big help to shoot with low apertures and further blur out my backgrounds nicely. I didn't notice any real color shifting, and my image has remained sharp as expected. I like that this one is so variable and allows me to use just this one filter, rather than having to keep changing them out to different ones and the light changes. It's just more useful. I'm thankful this one came with that little plastic storage case, rather than a pouch or something useless, because it helps me to protect the filter when not in use. This is a nice inexpensive alternative to much more expensive ND filters and it's actually quite nicely made.

The K&F Concept Variable ND2-2000 filter is a brilliant and much needed photo accessory if you work a lot with flash or in hard sunlight setups. I had not in the past used ND filters much. But in recent years I have been shooting more and more with fill flash in hard sun lit conditions. As most photographers know, once you sync a flash with your camera the top shutter speed is capped, usually at 1/125 sec. Sometimes even the smallest aperture on a lens isn't small enough to cut the light level down enough. And of course you don't really want the smallest aperture as lens performance usually starts to suffer at smaller apertures. That pretty much guarantees over exposure problems unless you can cut down the light input. In the past you had to carry a variety of ND filters for various stops. But this new variable ND from K&F has a 1-11 stops range. Just amazing. It's like having a second aperture ring. You can just dial down the light volume until the other exposure parameters you care about, histogram, zebra, etc, all align to your liking. Absolutely a great buy if you need what this filter has to offer.

K & F Concept markets innovative, high-quality products.

This filter is no exception.

If you appreciate fine machining, you’ll love the appearance and feel of this filter. It’s a precision device.

To adjust the filter over its 11 stop range (ND2 – ND2000), you simply twist the outer ring of the filter. There are 10 gradation marks on the ring.

I haven’t been able to test the extremes of this filter’s range: I need a couple of really sunny days to do that, I live near Lake Michigan and I’m going to try to get to the shore on a day with moderate or more wave action and test my wife’s patience as I test the impact of this filter. Just looking through it and rotating the ring through its range, I get a pretty good idea of what it can do.

The filter come packaged in a protective plastic case and is supplied with three vacuum-packed cleaning cloths. I haven’t opened any of those pouches yet.

Definitely a keeper that has me yearning for some sunny days before winter ets in.
