If you want to easily do an in camera kaleidoscope effect then this K&F Concept handheld kaleidoscope filter will do just that. It will work with any camera and any lens. You simply hold the filter between your camera lens and the subject until you find the look you like and take a photo. The filter comes in a nice container along with 3 microfiber cleaning cloths. If this is a look you are going for then it will do the trick.

I wanted to create a special effect for a music video I will be shooting, so decided to pick up this kaleidoscope filter and see how it would work out. What you get is a big thick filter to screw on your lens, with a dial to turn to dial the effect how you would like. This filter isn't really all that useful for changing the effect while shooting video, however, and is better suited for photos, since you can set it and take the picture. It's a pretty cool effect, keeping the center image while creating the kaleidoscope effect all around it. The filter is a little heavy, as there is a lot of glass. The threads that screw onto your lens are good, and you have to screw the filter on snugly so when you move the dial you don't accidentally unscrew the filter. Overall, this filter creates a really nice effect, although it is a little limited because it essentially only does one thing, but it does it well, so I'm ok with that.

I ordered this K&F Concept 72mm Kaleidoscope Filter to take a trip down memory lane.
Way back in 1972, I took a trip to New York City to spend some time with a cousin. We were both beginning photographers, and we took a drive to Spiratone. For those of you too young to know, Spiratone sold a lot of inexpensive photo gear, including some unique items. They had enlarging paper in DayGlo colors that the called Psychobrome, sideways periscopes that you could use to take surreptitious photos, and all sorts of special effects filters. I didn't have much money with me, and about all I could afford was a Spiratone Kaleidoscope filter. It produced an effect that looks just like the one you get with this filter.
This K&F Concepts filter is pretty large and thick. It definitely has a negative effect on the overall sharpness of your images, but sharpness is probably not that important if you are going for the effect you get with this filter. The photos in the listing are an accurate representation of what you can expect. While it is possible to create this sort of effect in post-processing, it's a whole lot simpler to use a filter.
The filter comes with a nice case and, as seems par for the course with K&F Concepts, a couple of cleaning cloths.

This filter creates and interesting effect that is good for specific shots. I don't see myself using this a lot but, I would say this is the best kaleidoscope filter I have come across. The lens itself is made of quality materials that I have come to know from all the K&F filters I own. Fits my 82mm G-Master perfectly. Comes in a great protective case. I highly recommend this lens.

I really like K&F Concept lenses. I find them to be well made. I'm just an amateur photographer, but I find this kaleidoscope filter to be a lot of fun to use. I've been taking all sorts of surreal photos with it. It comes with a sturdy case to store it in, along with a cleaning cloth.

This is a super fun filter that you can seriously get creative with.
It’s very well made and definitely for durable than I expected. Keep in mind that it does bulge out quite a bit so you won’t be able to put a lens cap over it when not in use.
No weird vignetting or color casting and overall just fun to use

It gives a different look. I love the circular repetition effect that the filter gives at a distance of 5 to 15 feet. The look stands out very well. The distance will depend on the size of the object to be focused on. I used it for faces and flowers and it was very good

The first thing I noticed about the K&F Concept Kaleidoscope Filter is the sheer size and chunkiness of this piece of glass. True to other accessories I have used in the past from K&F, the filter is well made and machined well, so it seamlessly fit on my Nikon Z 24mm-120mm lens.
The filter rotates to change the strength of the kaleidoscope effect. Rotating the front is very easy and smooth. Using the filter did not change the resolution I was seeing in the electronic viewfinder, and it was very easy to compose a photo. Additionally, I was able to use the lens hood with the filter attached to the lens.
I have not had a chance to experiment much with different subjects but I can already see the potential of using this lens for fun portraits of people and pets and interesting macro or landscape photos.
Highly recommended!

The results of this lens are pretty close to what the promo photos show, you get a repeated image around the center, clear area. In sunless setups, it's quite fun to play with. (see my image of a cat) However, if you have bright lights outside frame, the glass can quickly get cluttered with random light. I'm not convinced this has any multicoating to help this, and i don't see any indication of that in the description, despite the "nano" branding. I got the 77mm version and I can say it is quite heavy for a "filter." The best way to describe it is like holding the bottom of a glass soda bottle. Overall, I'd assume if you get this you know what you're getting into, it's fun to play around with, but hardly a staple.

So, it's definitely a fun filter and you will certainly notice the results. Is it worth a space in my bag? IDK. I'm rating it based on what it is, and it is great at that. The effect it creates probably can't be recreated exactly in Photoshop, but you can get real close with some effort.
