I got this solely to be able to take pictures of the sun, and the extremely rare instances my 10 stop doesnt apply. It is dark enough for both. Some reviewers are claiming it is too dark and that they are having to crank ISO up. Look at their settings and you can see that they have no idea what they are doing or talking about. F11-ISO 2500, 1/360 sec? Turn your ISO down, slow shutter down, use a tripod and image stability and you will get a "normal" picture. There is no reason to turn your ISO up, that is just dumb. ISO is compensatory for lack of light to increase shutter speed to a hand holdable level, or to compensate in scenes where movement, timing and lack of available light are an issue. It is not for compensating for lack of light while using a filter to block out what you then try to compensate for. The filter does exactly what it is supposed to do, block light. You want to compensate for blocked or lack of light, slow shutter speed down...THEN you wont have a grainy picture. The only quirk i have about the filter itself is that there are no "markings" on the side indicating what f-stop rating the filter is, just Nano-x marking. Other than that, it is exactly what it is supposed to be, a solar filter...

The darkness was too much (20 stops) and prohibited my camera from using optimal settings. I had to use the lowest f stop and a higher iso and shutter speed to obtain a good solar picture then desired. The lens filter was otherwise great.

I posted a photo of a shot I just took using the 20 stops - Canon EOS 5D Mark III EF70-200 F/2.8 IS II USM Focal Length 360mm Shutter 1/320 sec, Aperture F/8.0 with ISO 1600 - Pic is attached as is no editing so you get the grain of the ISO 1600, I will see if I can shoot at a lower ISO to avoid grain... (I am no expert, but I would think when there is a Totality at 100% would it be too dark, or you need to change filters out maybe?)
Is it too Dark for Totality?

I've accumulated several solar filters over time for photographing the sun, but none have impressed me quite like this ND filter. Specifically designed for my Nikon 200-500 f/5.6 lens with its 95mm filter threads, this filter has surpassed my expectations.

Compared to my previous Thousand Oaks solar filters, which often imparted a slight blue tint to my photos, this ND filter offers a neutral view. It doesn't alter the color or tint of the images and maintains similar exposure settings when capturing photos of the sun.

I'm eagerly anticipating the upcoming Total Solar Eclipse in April, where I'll put this ND filter to the test. I'm confident it will deliver exceptional results, and I look forward to updating this review with my experiences!

K&F has been my go-to filter brand for some time now as I feel like they strike the greatest value for cost balance for my own personal taste and this gorgeous 67mm filter is no exception. The adjustments are easy to make the finish and glass looks great.

This was the only reasonably priced ND solar filter on Amazon for my lens size. It's really too dark IMHO... you have to use surprisingly long exposures when shooting... the sun lol. It's 20 stops... I wish I could have gotten a 16 stop one but this will do the trick for the upcoming eclipse.

Attached is a test picture I took the day I got it.
Really, really dark

Nice quality filter. K&F has good quality control in my opinion.

It's thin, but the edges have enough knurling to get the job done. I have always been in the habit of tightening all of my filters, and then pulling back a hair after it seems tight. Always leave some wiggle room for heat buildup, especially when viewing the sun.

That's what this is really designed to do, allow you to take images of the sun. And to that end, it does a great job of it! There is zero color cast, which is the way to go in my opinion. The color of the sun is bone white, not yellow.
The images came out nice and sharp. Everything was smooth across the frame.

You can look or image the sun nearly every day, no need to wait on eclipses with this.
This is a quality filter and safe for your eyes AND your camera.
Well worth the price of admission here.

*Always take your time when setting up to view the sun. Make it a point to read the filter each time before you put it on. Make sure you are putting the right filter on every time. The sun can be...unforgiving. Enjoy!

I have this on my 600 mm camera and a strait sunny day it filtered the sun down to a manageable level.
